Great Southern Supreme Merino Show moved to Bathurst this year which was a huge success with a large number of entries of Merino Sheep of a very high standard. Greenland Merino Stud travelled to Bathurst as a pre-cursor for Sydney Royal Easter Show on 25th March.

Greenland Merino Stud achieved 10 Broad Ribbons including Champion March Shorn Ultrafine Wool Ewe, Elders Champion August Shorn Ewe, Champion August Shorn Ultrafine Wool Ewe, Junior Champion March Shorn Ram, Junior Champion August Shorn Ewe, Reserve Champion March Shorn Fine Wool Ewe, Reserve Champion March Shorn Fine Wool Ram, Reserve Champion March Shorn Superfine Wool Ram and Third in the Fabstock March Shorn Pairs.

Greenland’s biggest honour was to win the Prestigious Roger Birtles Perpetual Trophy, sponsored by The Land, for the best 5 Merino Sheep March Shorn Group: 3 rams and 2 ewes. This category is always difficult to win with many entries of a high standard. Spokesperson for the four judges commented that they were a very productive group of a uniform type with good skin type of positive testing wool.

Grandchildren Tom and Ben insisted Greenland Stud put more Ultrafine and Superfine Merinos in the Show team, which proved to be a very successful decision
